Steel: Crompton Greaves has a significant presence in the Steel industry and has executed several major prestigious projects.
  • The Engineering Projects Division, in consortium with ABB secured and executed a very prestigious record breaking single order on turnkey basis from Steel Authority of India Ltd. for the Durgapur Steel plant. The project covered the entire power distribution package for the modernization of plant. The total order value of the project was Rs. 1235 million out of which the Crompton Greaves share is Rs.315 Million. The job involved Design, Engineering & Construction of HT / LT substation buildings, along with the illumination system for the buildings. In addition the project also involved the supply of large quantities of power and distribution transformers, construction of 700 Meters length of cable tunnels, complete street lighting of modernization area of steel plant.
  • Another prestigious project that the division executed was for M/s. DSP for their 220 kV Switchyard project valued at Rs. 230 million. The job involved a 12 bay 220 kV Switchyard, 33 kV Outdoor Switchyard, 2 nos. 33kV interconnecting double circuit Transmission lines between the two steel plants. The project was awarded on a turnkey basis, and covered design, engineering, supply of total project equipment including civil, structural work and fire fighting system.
  • The division secured another prestigious order from Ferrous Metal Industry from M/s. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. for the Super Smelter Plant-Chanderiya Lead-Zinc plant being set up at Rajasthan in collaboration with M/s. Davy Mecke, UK. The total value of the order was Rs.160 million. The scope of work included a 132 kV Switchyard, 11 kV and 415 kV power Distribution, Lighting of Substation building, Street lighting and Yard lighting. All other associated works including air-conditioning, air pressurization, fire- detection and emulsifier fighting system are also included for various load centers
CUSTOMER : SAIL - DURGAPUR STEEL PLANT
PROJECT : MODERNISATION OF THE STEEL PLANT
CONSULTANT M/S. MECON, RANCHI
NATURE OF CONTRACT: Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of power distribution equipment for DSP'S Modernisation on turnkey basis in Consortium with M/s. Asea Brown Boveri.
PURPOSE : To provide adequate and reliable power to meet the increasing demand due to modernisation for increase in the steel production from 1 Million tons to 1.8 Million tons.
SCOPE OF WORK & SALIENT FEATURES : The Contract is on turnkey basis involving:-
  1) Civil, Structural & Electrical Design.
  2) Civil works construction of 33 nos. Substation buildings, underground walkable cable tunnels, boundary wall, etc.
  3) Supply & Erection of 110 nos Power & Distribution Transformers.
  4) Centralised control for Area & Street Lighting System.
  5) Supply & Erection of 4215 nos. Luminaires of various type.
6) Supply & Erection of 90 Km LT & Control Cables.
  7) Supply & Erection of 16 nos. of 22 M High Lighting Tower and 591 Nos. of Street Lighting Poles.

PROJECT : MODERNISATION OF THE STEEL PLANT

NATURE OF CONTRACT: Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 220 KV Switchyard, 33 kV Switchyard and 33 kV Double Circuit Transmission line on Turnkey basis.
PURPOSE : Stepping down Incoming Voltage from 220 kV to 33 kV, providing inter - connection to power distribution Scheme and power supply to Alloy Steel Plant at Durgapur.
SCOPE OF WORK & SALIENT FEATURES : The Contract involves :-
  1) Civil, Structural & Electrical Design.
  2) 220 kV and 33 kV Switchyard equipment.
  3) Associated Civil and Structural Works.
  4) Yard Illumination.
  5) Fire Protection System for Power Transformers.
  6) 33 kV Double Circuit Transmission line.

NATURE OF CONTRACT: Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 220 / 33 / 11 kV Substation at Malanpur, Gwalior.
PURPOSE : To provide power supply to new Steel Rolling Mill.
SCOPE OF WORK & SALIENT FEATURES : The Contract involves :-
  1) Structural & Electrical Design.
  2) Supply and Erection of 220 kV Switchyard Equipment
  3) Supply and Erection of Structures, Busbar Materials and Cables.
  4) Supply and Erection of 100 MVA, 230 / 33 kV Power Transformer.
  5) Yard Illumination.
  6) Supply and Erection of 33 kV and 11 kV Switchgear.
  7) Supply and Erection of Earthing Transformer.

NATURE OF CONTRACT: Design, Supply, Testing & Commissioning of 220 / 33 kV Substation, 33 kV Ring Main Project, 33 / 6.6 kV Skid type Substation and 33 kV Over Head Lines.
PURPOSE : To provide power supply for entire Iron Ore Extraction Project.-
SCOPE OF WORK & SALIENT FEATURES : The Contract involves :-
  1) Civil and Electrical Design.
  2) Supply of 120 MVA 220 / 33 kV Power Transformer.
  3) Supply of 2 MVA, 1 MVA Distribution Transformer.
  4) Supply and Erection of 33 kV single, Double Circuit Over Head Line.
